Sober

"But what will we do when we’re sober?"

Directly following the vibrant "Green Light", the next song on the tracklist is "Sober." Lorde makes a metaphorical comparison between lucid emotion and highs on this track. The song is spirited and dynamic, carrying an excellent reputation for the start of Melodrama. The urgency and desperation of the song come to light with the exhilaration-inducing backtrack. Lorde includes a variety of instruments on the backing track. For "Sober", she incorporates an arrangement of trumpets, brass, tenor, and baritone saxophones into its production. The composition is similar to most other alternative Melodrama songs. With hints of electropop and electronic R&B, "Sober" is one of a kind. Lorde's three studio albums, Pure Heroine, Melodrama, and Solar Power, are three separate sub-genres under the alternative title. It is genuinely admirable to see Lorde succeed in various genres. Her enthusiasm for experimenting with music is extraordinary and distinguishes her from other artists.

My rating/review:

To start, I am a formidable critic. The song is undeniably great, but unfortunately, it isn't exemplary. Especially for the high-quality criteria that Lorde possesses as a popular Western artist. I don't have much to say about "Sober", I think it's a catchy song and the lyrics are pretty good too. I like this song, but the absence of lyrical depth drives me to give it an average score, just like "Green Light." Just not my favorite.
