Perfect Places

They say to save the best for last, and Lorde listened. "Perfect Places" is indeed the perfect youthful spirit needed to end Melodrama. Start with a banger, leave with a banger.

I specifically want to focus on the theme surrounding youth. "Perfect Places" reflects this generation's teenagers and popular culture. It's something along the lines of yearning for instant satisfaction. Trying to avoid and cope with the lows and highs of the trip to adulthood. For that, we create places where we are free of pressure. When in reality, those "places" are just nonexistent terrains or outlets where we run away from our issues. Popular teen culture is draining us with psychedelics. Pushing others away. Hurting ourselves and others. Wanting to grow up but fearing missing out on a childhood. The destructive popular teen culture has become so normalized. Without saying that this culture is good or bad, "Perfect places" outlines popular culture, but it also is popular culture.

This track will leave you in a trance with its incredible lyrics, meaning, production, and vocals. A bittersweet ending to a bittersweet album. Maybe you can resonate with the lyrics surrounding youth. Maybe you're here for psychedelia. Or maybe you want to escape reality. Whatever it is, "Perfect Places" can take you there.
